He wants to pry us away from anything that might hold us too securely:
our careers, our family systems, our money making, our possessions.
We must be ready to disconnect from the attachments of this life in order to prepare for the next.
There comes a time when the things that were undoubtedly good and right in the past must be left behind,
for there is always the danger that they might hinder us from moving forward and connecting with the
one necessary thing:

Christ Jesus, Himself.
When we hear the call of Christ, "Come follow Me,"
our response is to walk away from the trappings of this world, into
a life of simplicity.
A life in which we live for others.
A life where we do not build up "treasures" for the self.
A life where the self must diminish in order that He might increase.
If today you hear the call of His voice, take up your cross and
follow Him.
