This is the Hall of Benedictions, and the window on the left is where the Pope gives his Urbi et Orbi blessing (the window on the right overlooks the interior of St. Peter's Basilica). Way down on the other end, behind the curtain that is behind that chair, is the room in which Vatican Radio transmits its radio commentaries of papal events!
