Vatican Radio has asked Carlo Climati journalist and director of the Laboratory of Communication at the European University of Rome, why it is so important nowadays to help young people to celebrate the night of October 31 in a Christian way?

"Because there is greater awareness of the problem represented by Halloween. This is not just a carnival, where people dress up and wear masks, but it is also a festival that provides opportunities to approach the occult world. During Halloween, parties in clubs boast esoteric themes, where people can meet magicians or fortune tellers, who have their own place in the feasts. Therefore, it starts as a fun experience, but it is actually meant to take you closer to the occult. This can particularly affect young people who experience lack of communication, suffering, broken families, who have no points of reference in their social milieu. In this context, Halloween can stimulate a much stronger approach to the world of the occult and Satanism, which becomes an answer and fills voids".

This is why it is very important to gain awareness of this reality and to consider celebrating Christian events instead, like those related to the Feast of All Saints.

You might want to contact your diocese and join some Christian community event. All Saints is a Christian feast celebrating hope, the hope and faith of which saints and martyrs are witnesses.
