There was no "Bible" in existence in the time of the Apostles. You will never see the word Bible in the Bible. Instead they appealed to the Jewish Scriptures which amounted to the Old Testament in our Bibles, including the books that Luther and the Protestants removed because they approved Catholic doctrines. Jesus never wrote a book. He founded a Church and gave it and it's chief steward authority:

Matthew 16:17-19
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

He ordered the Church to baptize new members and to hand on his oral TEACHINGS, not the Bible:

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Saint Paul affirms this preference for tradition (the Greek word meaning teachings) in his own written letters, which were at the time he wrote them, obviously (I have to say this because many Protestants seem to think his letters always existed as scripture) in oral and written form:

2 Thessalonians 2:15
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

What Protestants know as the "Bible", which they worship in its abridged form, was compiled of the Old Testament and letters and books of the apostolic Catholic Church as a tool for instruction and passing on tradition over hundreds of years after Christ. It was the Pope and the Church that Christ gave authority to teach, not the Bible. The Bible has authority because the Catholic Church gave it that authority. The Protestant new fangled dogma of sola scriptura, where every man misunderstands and misinterprets the words of the Bible as their sole authority is no more present in the Bible than is their false doctrine of sola fide.
