The Assumption is one of the most celebrated feasts of Mary. There are many traditions of celebration among Catholic cultures in the church. In my German tradition, we always decorated the Mary Altar with summer flowers brought to the church by the parish families.
The icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help also deserves to have special honor on this the feast of Mary’s Assumption. Spend time before your icon, place flowers and a lighted candle before her image on this day.
